- Ogun state government has opened a job portal to recruit graduates into public service
- Twenty applicants got instant employment on Thursday, August 15, during the launch of the portal
- Vice President Yemi Osinbajo lauded Governor Abiodun for the initiative
Twenty applicants got instant employments into public service on Thursday, August 15, as Ogun state government opened job portal for unemployed youth.
The Nation reports that the successful applicants were selected following their performance on the aptitude test conducted for them at the June 12 cultural centre, Kuto Abeokuta, the venue of the launch.
Legit.ng gathered that the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, who witnessed the launch, lauded Governor Dapo Abiodun for the initiative. He pledged that the federal government would support his administration for the jobs creation project.
Osinbajo urged the youth to strive towards self development, saying that they should avail themselves of the opportunities existing in agriculture, manufacturing and technology sectors as funds have been made available by the federal government through Bank of Industry and Enterprise Bank.
The vice president also advised other states to emulate Ogun in its resolve to create employment opportunities for their teeming graduates and unskilled youths.
The governor, who is a real estate operator and oil magnate, pledged to mentor and nurture youth in the state with potentials to become business moguls like Aliko Dangote and Mike Adenuga. He assured that his administration would not allow Ogun youth “to be used as malleable tools in the hands of unscrupulous politicians.”
Abiodun said as a businessman in politics who had gone through the stages of conceptualising, operationalising and managing businesses successfully, business start-ups are not alien to him.
“I come from a private sector background. Without being immodest, I consider them successful. I am therefore more of businessman in politics than in politic for business.
“We need to engage their creative energies positively to unleash appropriate skill acquisition that would bring about sustainable development for the economy by making them net-employers of labour. I have no doubt that our gateway state will take maximum advantage of this portal,” Abiodun said.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the Nigerian Army broke down the process for applying for its job following the recent announcement of vacancy in the security agency.
