- Simon Achuba said the move to impeach him by the Kogi state Assembly was unreasonable
- The embattled deputy governor of Kogi insisted there was no ground to impeach him
- Achuba vowed to continue to expose corruption anytime he encounters it
Deputy governor of Kogi state, Simon Achuba has described members of the state House of Assembly as unreasonable over alleged plot to impeach him.
In an interview with The Cable, the embattled deputy governor said there was no ground to impeach him.
He said: “I should have thought that the assembly would be reasonable, but they are not.”
The Kogi state House of Assembly began impeachment proceedings on Wednesday, August 7 against the deputy governor.
The deputy governor said he was being witch-hunted for speaking against corruption in the Yahaya Bello administration in Kogi state.
He said: “And, of course, that also is the main issue because I have a right to express my view. I have it guaranteed in the constitution, and by the virtue of the oath that I have taken, I cannot see corruption and refuse to expose it.”
Legit.ng previously reported that the Kogi state deputy governor described claims suggesting that he was planning to decamp to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as ‘lies from the pit of hell’.
Achuba said this in reaction to the Kogi state House of Assembly’s impeachment move against him.
The deputy governor said the impeachment move was not unexpected; claiming that instead of addressing the issues of corruption that he had raised, Governor Yahaya Bello was using the legislators against him.
