Chelsea was likely to use their dual anchor of Mateo Kovacic and Jorghino at their midfield since N'Golo Kante sustained a slight injury in their previous match. However, they were to play without some of their best talents such as Willian, Antonio Rudiger, Reece James, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reuben Loftus-Cheek.

Jurgen Klopp's side, on the other hand, was to be without their first-choice goalkeeper, Allison Becker. Becker picked an injury during their 4-1 win over Norwich. Nonetheless, Adrian stepped up to prove himself. Sadio Mane was expected to be available despite missing out in their club's line-up over the weekend. He stepped up and became the man of the match.
