Barcelona have confirmed their summer signing Norberto Murara Neto will be out of action for about eight weeks.

The 30-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper fractured his left wrist during the Catalans 4-0 win over Serie A side Napoli in Michigan.

He has however undergone surgery according to information on the club's official website and will begin recovery process immediately.

"After fracturing the scaphoid in his left hand, the first team player, Neto, has been successfully operated on this Tuesday morning by Dr. Mir and will be out for between 6 and 8 weeks.

"The Brazilian goalkeeper was the second signing this summer, after Frenkie de Jong, and participated in the first four pre-season friendlies.

"Neto arrived from Valencia and was officially introduced as a new player for FC Barcelona on July 9.

"In the first of the two matches played against Napoli, Neto completed an almost perfect match, repeatedly stopping the Italians from scoring."

Neto joined the Blaugrana from Valencia this summer with Jasper Cillessen moving the opposite direction in a swap deal.
