Don’t appoint yourself as petroleum minister - Bishop tells Buhari

- Rt Rev Innocent Ochei has advised President Muhammadu Buhari not to appoint himself as minister of petroleum while functioning as president at the same time

- The cleric urged the president to act like a true leader who is in charge, and allocate portfolios to the ministers-designate

- Ochei also urged Delta state to improve its education system, and warned men-of-God to avoid dragging the name of the Church through the mud

President Muhammadu Buhari has been advised by the presiding bishop, Newday College of Bishops, Asaba, Delta state, Rt Rev Innocent Ochei, not to appoint himself as minister of petroleum while functioning as president at the same time.

Ochei, who gave the charge during the consecration of Rt Rev Jude Obadile Ifechukwu at the Rock of God Healing Ministry, Asaba, instructed the president to focus on governing the country, The Sun reports.

Legit.ng gathers that the cleric urged the president to act like a true leader who is in charge and allocate portfolios to the ministers-designate, so as to fast-track the implementation of his administration’s policies and programmes.

Ochei said the delay in sending the list of ministers-designate to the National Assembly for confirmation was unnecessary and uncalled for.

The cleric further urged Delta state to improve its education system, and warned men-of-God to avoid dragging the name of the Church through the mud.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari will on Wednesday, August 21, swear in all the nominated and approved ministers who are to serve in his second term cabinet.

This was contained in a statement signed by the secretary to the government of the federation, Boss Mustapha.

According to Babatunde Lawal, the permanent secretary of the cabinet affairs office, a two-day induction would be conducted for the new ministers between Friday, August 19 and Tuesday, August 20, before the inauguration.
