Some properties belonging to suspected kidnap kingpin, Hamisu Bala alias Wadume, who escaped when soldiers opened fire on policemen taking him to Jalingo, have been seized by security operatives.
According to The Nation, the panel investigating the controversial killings has sealed up Wadume’s properties in Taraba and other states, including those he built for friends.
Legit.ng gathers that over 20 vehicles in the fleet of his transport company, including the private cars he gave out to his allies and kinsmen, have been impounded and taken to the Wukari police station.
Following the development, dozens of employees at Wadume’s transport business, including the company’s manager, commercial drivers, associates and some beneficiaries of his benevolence have reportedly fled Taraba for fear of being arrested.
Wadume, who is currently on the run, is said to have harboured political ambitions.
He tested the waters in the 2019 general elections, when he aspired to become a member of the House of Assembly on the platform of the Young Democratic Party (YDP), to represent Ibi state constituency.
But for his arrest, Ibi could also have been crowned as Sarkin Matasa (youths leader) in Ibi, during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, after having reportedly made financial contributions to an Ibi chief to secure the nomination.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that one of the surviving operatives of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team who were attacked by soldiers of the 93 battalion in Taraba state while taking Hamisu Bala to Jalingo, gave a blow-by-blow account of how he escaped death by the whiskers.
The operative disclosed that one of the soldiers had suggested that he be killed, so as to truncate any evidence against them.
