There was jubilation among indigenes of Gubio community in Borno on Sunday, August 11, as soldiers of the Nigerian Army overpowered armed Boko Haram insurgents who tried to take over the town.
The indigenes expressed their joy and sang the praises of the troops during the visit of the state governor, Babagana Umaru, in the community, Nigerian Tribune reports.
The jubilant residents revealed to Umara that the soldiers defeated the insurgents after a fierce seven-hour gun battle (from 6.00 pm to 1.00 am) with them.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that four Nigerian soldiers had reportedly lost their lives as Boko Haram terrorists attacked their base in Borno state.
The terrorists attacked the Nigerian Army 5 Brigade in Gubio at about 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10.
In the process, the soldiers lost four personnel while the terrorists stole four gun trucks, one mortar gun and one artillery gun.
