Tiv/Jukun crisis: Tiv youths call for Ishaku, Danjuma to be investigated

- The Tiv Youth Council wants security agencies to investigate and expose the masterminds of the continued crisis between Tiv and Jukun people of Taraba state

- The president of the group, Chivir Mike Msuaan, says the allegations that Governor Darius Ishaku and retired General Theophilus Danjuma are backing the Jukun militia should be investigated

- The group notes that before both Tiv and Jukun can live in peace, the masterminds fuelling the crisis should be isolated and dealt with

The Tiv Youth Council says Governor Darius Ishaku and retired General Theophilus Danjuma should be investigated by security agencies over the continued crisis between Tiv and Jukun people of Taraba state.

The president of the group, Chivir Mike Msuaan, in a statement on Monday, August 12, said the investigation of Ishaku and Danjuma was necessary in view of allegations that the two powerful individuals may be supporting the Jukun militia, Daily Trust reports.

“We herein particularly invite the relevant security agencies to immediately proceed with a thorough investigation of Governor Darius Ishaku and Gen. T. Y. Danjuma (Rtd) in the interest of peace and unity of the two ethnic groups,” he said.

The group said before both Tiv and Jukun to live in peace the masterminds fuelling the crisis should be isolated and dealt with.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, June 19, condemned the recent attacks on the people of Kona in Taraba state, and ordered security forces to end the violence immediately and decisively.

Buhari, in a statement by his senior special assistant on media and publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, in Abuja warned that attacks on innocent people in the name of revenge or whatever motives, would not be tolerated by the government.
