Kogi PDP local govt chairman kidnapped, says state chairman

The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi state, Sam Uhuotu, has raised an alarm over alleged kidnap of the local government chairman in Okene, Musa Adelabu, who is a member of the PDP.

The state chairman who confirmed the abduction in a statement sent to journalists said lives of the residents are no longer safe.

According to him, the gunmen invaded the home of the local government chairman at about 1:00am on Sunday, August 11 and whisked him away.

He described the abduction as one too many, lamenting that members of his party in the last week had been consistently harassed by men dressed in security uniforms.

Meanwhile, the commissioner of police in the state, Hakeem Busari says his command is not aware of the abduction and has not received any report that a member of the party was abducted.

The Anambra state police command on Thursday, July 18 arrested a female armed robber and her accomplice, who have been terrorising Abatete community with robberies and other heinous crimes.

Parading the suspects, spokesperson of the command, Haruna Mohammed, said police detectives attached to Eziowelle division in conjunction with Abatete vigilante group arrested the duo following an intelligence report.
