A group, Initiative to Save Democracy, has congratulated former senior special assistant on social investment programmes, Barrister Ismaeel Ahmed, as he joins the list of one of the Most Influential People of African Descent, Global 100 Under 40.
In a press statement sent to journalists on Monday, August 11 and signed by its chairman, James Akinloye, the group noted that the recognition was given to Barrister Ismaeel, based on “not just his commitment to excellence but his unrivaled contribution to Nigeria’s democracy, the country’s development and his role as one of the managers of Buhari’s social investment programmes.”
According to the group, the recognition from Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD), a New York based organization, is well deserving, stressing that the honoree has played an impactful role in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Part of the statement read: “As a research-based organization that is committed to accelerated progress and developmental democracy, there is enough facts on ground to state that Ismaeel Ahmed has indeed contributed his quota as a young Nigerian to the country’s development and is truly deserving of the recognition.
“Barrister Ahmed has efficiently managed the National Social Investment Programmes of the Buhari-led administration, and there is an abundance of results to state that he has done well.
“The results are there for us to see, the programmes have directly touched more than 44 million Nigerians across the country.
“Barrister Ahmed’s hard work and commitment to excellence in the implementation of the NSIPs has supported the Buhari-led administration’s effort to reduce the rate of unemployment and poverty in the country.
“He has been able to translate the well-intended policy commitments of the Buhari administration by ensuring universal access to the schemes hence the growing number of beneficiaries.”
Barrister Ismaeel, who has officially joined the ‘MIPAD Class of 2019’ will receive his honor in September 2019 in New York City, following the opening of the 74th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
MIPAD is a global civil society initiative in support of the United Nations International Decade for People of African Descent.
MIPAD publishes a unique global 100 list that identifies high achievers of African descent worldwide, pairing those based across the diaspora with their counterparts inside Africa, across various verticals, annually until 2024.
