Lionel Messi has toppled Cristiano Ronaldo to UEFA's goal of the season award for 2018-19.
According to a report of UEFA’s official website, fans voted the Barcelona captain stunning free-kick against Liverpool in the first leg of their semi-final clash at Camp Nou.
A further breakdown revealed Juventus forward Ronaldo emerged second for his strike against former club Manchester United the group stage, while Porto midfielder Danilo Pereira claimed third spot for a solo run and strike from distance while in action for Portugal against Serbia last March.
Interestingly, this is the third time Messi is beating Ronaldo to the goal-of-the-tournament, having emerged tops in 2015 and 2016.
