- Bookmaker GettingBet has explained how Liverpool would have won the league instead of Man City with VAR
- They cited a handball by Kyle Walker which was overlooked by the referee when City played Tottenham at the Etihad
- Pep Guardiola's men ran away with the trophy on the last day with just one point following win at Brighton
Bookmaker GettingBet did an analysis in all 380 Premier League games played last season and concluded Liverpool would have lifted the title instead of Manchester City.
The technology will be used in the 2019-20 season which will spot off the ball incidents including handballs, penalty calls, off-sides and the likes.
But GettingBet proved Jurgen Klopp would ended the Reds 22-year wait for a Premier League title if the VAR was in place in the 2018-19 season.
They cited the 1-0 win City recorded over fourth-placed Tottenham at the Etihad in April, where Kyle Walker handled the ball in the penalty area.
The VAR would have awarded a penalty to Mauricio Pochettino’s side and with Spurs having a 100 per cent conversion rate last season, the Citizens would have dropped two valuable points.
And that decision would have played a major role in Liverpool winning the Premier League title.

The study also proved that Chelsea would have finished in fourth place behind Tottenham after the Blues scored an offside goal against Cardiff City through Cesar Azpilicueta.
Not only that, Arsenal and Manchester United would have finished with their respective fifth and sixth positions.
Billy Sharp, Head of Sportsbook at GentingBet said: “It’ll be interesting to see how the introduction of the Premier League’s new rules affects this season’s competition.
"We saw in 2018/19 that titles can be won and lost by the finest of margins, so any change to the rules can have a significant impact.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that ahead of the UEFA Awards set to hold on August 29, nominees for the best players in different categories have been shortlisted for the 2018-19 season.
Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been selected for best defender award in last season's tournament following their outstanding performances.
