Alex Iwobi will not be making his debut for his new club Everton when they face Crystal Palace in their opening Premier League fixture.

The Toffees did not complete the Super Eagles star's signing on time and the full paperwork was received by the Premier League after the transfer window closed.

But the Nigerian international will be available for selection against Watford at Goodison Park on Saturday, August 17.

''He became the Blues' seventh summer acquisition, reuniting with former colleague Walcott, but was not registered in time to be eligible for Saturday's Premier League opener at Crystal Palace,'' Everton wrote on their official website.

Following Idrissa Gueye's move to PSG, Iwobi could be handed the vacant jersey number 17, same shirt he wore for his boyhood club Arsenal when he broke into the first team.

The 23-year-old has made 100 appearances for the Gunners in the Premier League, scoring 11 goals.

Meanwhile, had earlier reported that Premier League side Everton have confirmed the signing of Alex Iwobi on a five-year deal after the Nigeria international agreed personal terms with the club.
