Unlike how he helped Real Madrid to win the Champions League title last two seasons, Cristiano Ronaldo last term was unable to take Juventus to the final as they were sent out by Ajax.
Sadio Mane on his own side was incredible throughout the Champions League campaign for Liverpool lifting the trophy.
UEFA however made it clear that the winner of the award for the best forward of the season will be announced on August 29.
Also, the European Union football governing body announced the three players who will fight for the best midfielder award of last season.
They are Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, Barcelona superstar Frenkie de Jong and Tottenham star Christian Eriksen.

The 34-year-old bagged 28 goals in 43 appearances across all competitions in his first season in Italy.
