Simon Achuba, the Kogi state deputy governor, has described claims suggesting that he is planning to decamp to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as ‘lies from the pit of hell’.

Achuba said this during a Channels TV interview, in reaction to the Kogi state House of Assembly’s impeachment move against him.

Legit.ng gathers that the deputy governor said the impeachment move is not unexpected; claiming that instead of addressing the issues of corruption that he had raised, Governor Yahaya Bello was using the legislators against him.

The deputy governor insisted that at the end of the day, the one who is in the right will be known; and urged Kogi indigenes to stay clam and peacefully go about their businesses.

Speaking further on the defection claims, Achuba said: “It is a lie from the pit of hell and that is what they want people to believe.”

Achuba said there’s no relationship between the impeachment process and the claims of his decamping; stating that impeachment is not about party membership.

The deputy governor gave the assurance that he remains an All Progressives Party (APC) member and will continue to serve the people as a member of the party.

Recall that Legit.ng previously reported that the Kogi state House of Assembly on Wednesday, August 7, began the process for the impeachment of the Deputy Governor Simon Achuba.

The impeachment notice, which was a petition, was read by Abdullahi Bello (APC-Ajaokuta), the majority leader of the House, on the floor of the Assembly.

The petitions of the lawmakers were based on criminal indulgence, financial misappropriation and under-performance on the part of Achuba.
