Hajj: Sheikh Al Sudais tells pilgrims to stay away political slogans against Islam

A top Saudi scholar, Shiekh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, has asked all pilgrims to stay away from any act that could politicise the annual Hajj pilgrimage.

He asked the people to perform their pilgrimage in peace and stay away from political slogans and behaviors against the values of Islam, Daily Trust reports.

Al-Sudais who the president of general presidency of affairs of the Two Holy Mosques also said that the religion is against any form of terrorism and violence, urging all pilgrims to spend quality time to get to know their neighbours.

The president of the mosque on Tuesday, August 6, said Saudi Arabia is a popular symbol of moderation and peace.

He, therefore, called on media to always tell the truth and avoid any misinterpretation of Islam. He added that they have the major responsibility of writing the truth based on proper and direct observation that tallies with realities on ground.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) on Tuesday, August 6, disclosed that no fewer than 65,000 Nigerian pilgrims are in Saudi Arabia for the 2019 Hajj.

An official of the commission, Aliyu Tanko, told newsmen in Makkah that adequate arrangements have been made by NAHCON to ease the difficulties in performing the Hajj, which begins on Saturday, August 10.

He said that all Nigerian pilgrims have arrived the holy land and were engaged in preliminary activities preparatory to the conduct of the proper Hajj.
