Bayelsa guber: Jonathan says APC lacks presence to win poll

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has said that going by the massive number of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirants in Bayelsa ahead of the gubernatorial election, the party is the preferred platform in the state.

Jonathan said that the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state lacks the political presence to win the November 16 election, adding that the PDP has all it takes to emerge with a resounding and decisive victory, The Nation reports.

Moreover, the former president hailed the efforts of Governor Seriake Dickson, the state chairman of the PDP, Moses Cleopas, stakeholders and all the 21 aspirants for doing their utmost to ensure the unity and stability of the party.

He said that it was important for the PDP in the state to unite, so that it would not afford any avenue for other parties to steal victory from its hands.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Chief Benson Agadaga, an associate and kinsman of Jonathan, on Sunday, June 16, declared interest to contest the Bayelsa governorship election slated for November 16.

Agadaga, national chairman of Ogbia Brotherhood Worldwide, a socio-cultural group, in Yenagoa, said that he would bring development to the people if elected.
