Meet South African man who turned plastic into fuel creatively

Talk about turning trash into treasure! Sbusiso Shabangu, a 27-year-old, who hails from Nkomazi Local Municipality in Mpumalanga, has found an alternative way to create fuel.

According to Shabangu, he experimented with plastic when he discovered that he could create petrol, diesel and gas with plastic.

“I cooked it, tried to open it while it was on the fire. Then the steam went up with a flame and smell of petrol. I had an idea that I might take out the petrol," he told SABC News.

Legit.ng gathered some are still skeptical about Shabangu's fuel but he is hopeful that his discovery will change the country.

According to Shabangu, he not only creates fuel, which will help with high petrol prices, but he also cleans up the environment.

“With about 10kg of plastic, I can make maybe 5 litres of diesel, 2.5 litres of petrol and gas," he said, adding: "I am cleaning the environment and also making sure we can create job opportunities among ourselves.”

Social media users applauded Shabangu and they prayed that he would be protected against those who might want to pass off his idea as their own.

Twitter user, @championjxbs, wrote: "This is my homeboy. At first I thought it's a joke, I went to see and he is doing it. So proud of him."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that a young girl identified as Precious Ayegbusi drew fantastic images of Lagos state governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. The girl is an artist and a JSS1 student of Ojodu Junior High School.
