- Wayne Rooney is reportedly seeking a return to Manchester United as a coach
- A close pal of the 31-year-old revealed that Rooney wants to relocate back to England
- Another source disclosed that the former England star is close to getting a coaching badge
Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will reportedly return to Old Trafford in coaching capacity when he retires, reports claim.
The Red Devils' record goal scorer is looking forward to becoming a part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's backroom staff in the future.
Rooney's decision would calm his wife Coleen, who has told close friends that she wants to return home to England.
Coleen is said to be homesick and wants their four sons including Kai, Klay, Kit, and Cass, enrolled in UK schools.
The 33-year-old whose contract with DC United expires in 2020, is understood to be weighing his options for his future as a coach.

A source close to Rooney said: “Wayne is already looking to the future and wants to remain in the game.
"He also wants to keep his family together and to do what is best for Coleen and their boys.
“So a job at United would be perfect. Wayne would like to one day move into coaching.
"Long-term, he would love to be a part of what Ole is creating.”
Rooney's former United teammates, Nicky But.t and Michael Carrick already have jobs at the Theatre of Dreams.
A separate source also said: “Wayne is doing his coaching badges but is happy at DC United and has an option to stay beyond his current contract. So nothing will happen for a while.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Paul Pogba's dreams of joining Real Madrid this summer seems to have suffered a major setback as reports claim Los Blancos have agreed a deal to sign Ajax's Donny van de Beek.
The Manchester United midfielder has been linked with a move to the Spanish capital for a fee reported to be around £150million.
