Kasey Palmer: Bristol City sign Chelsea midfielder on permanent deal

- Chelsea have announced the departure of Kasey Palmer to Bristol City

- Palmer had a successful loan spell with the Ashton Gate-based side prior to the switch

- He is set to link up with former team-mates Jay Dasilva and Tomas Kalas

Chelsea star Kasey Palmer has completed a permanent move to Bristol City in a fee believed to be in the region of £3.5million.

Palmer enjoyed a successful loan spell with Championship outfit in the second half of last season.

The midfielder made featured 17 times for the Lee Johnson-tutored side, as Bristol City narrowly missed out on Premier League promotion.

The England youth international has penned a four-year deal that will keep him at Ashton Gate until 2023.

In a statement confirming his departure on Thursday, August 1, Chelsea thanked the midfielder for his services to the club.

"We thank Kasey for his service to Chelsea and wish him well for the rest of his career," Chelsea announced.

Palmer joined Chelsea's academy from Charlton Athletic in 2013, where he grew through the ranks with the Blues at youth level.

His stay saw him win the UEFA Youth League twice and two FA Youth Cups.

His last appearance with the first team came was during Chelsea's pre-season against Bohemians.

Palmer had in the past had two loan spells with Huddersfield Town alongside short stints with Derby County and Blackburn Rovers.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported that Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard, has reportedly earmarked Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater for offloading before kick-off of the new campaign.

The pair is said to have failed to impress Lampard after making an assessment of every Chelsea player during the pre-season tour.

And having experienced all three results in his three pre-season matches at the helm, the Englishman is said to have made a decision on what his Chelsea set up could look like.
