Emir Sanusi was also recognised for making various socio-political changes happen like the strength he gave to the girl-child education in the Muslim family law.

The citation on him partly read: “His Highness pursued his scholarship in Islamic history, thought, and law.

"He continues to bring his wealth of expertise to resolving significant development challenges including public health, girl-child education and reforms of Muslim family law as well as the systems of zakat and auqaf (endowments).”

It was also gathered that the emir charged other graduates of the university that they are the future and that great changes are possible with them.

“You are the future and the future is in your hands. Step out and take control, change it and stop waiting for us to do it for you as sadly we have failed… good news is change is possible,” he said.
