Kabiru Gaya's son's wedding: Senate president, NNPC boss, others storm Sokoto

- The wedding fatiha of the son of Senator Kabiru Gaya was graciously attended by Nigeri's key political dignitaries

- Senate president Ahmad Lawa led the delegation of the Senate to the wedding while the GMD of the NNPC led the federal government's delegation

- Not fewer than 10 chartered flights reportedly conveyed the guests to the wedding which took place in Sokoto

The president of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan led some senators to attend the wedding fatiha of the son of Senator Kabiru Gaya which took place at the ancient city of Sokoto on Saturday, July 27.

The wedding was also attended by other dignitaries including the federal government’s delegation led by the group managing director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele kolo Kyari; the chief of air staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar and Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as well as the deputy governor of Sokoto state, Manir Dan’iya, Daily Trust reports.

Legit.ng reports that Senator Gaya's son, Khalil Kabiru Gaya, got married to Fatima Umar Ajiya.

Among the entourage of the Senate president were Senators, Adamu Aliero, Kashim Shatima and Senator Aliyu Wamakko.

The guests were reportedly conveyed to Sokoto in ten chattered flights.

Speaking after the ceremony, Senator Gaya thanked the guest and prayed to Allah to take them back to their homes safely.

He particularly thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for sending a delegation, expressing optimism that he would lead Nigeria out of its present challenges.

Meanwhile, President Buhari on Thursday, July 25, said that he will work on the recommendations of experts from the private sector to bring about lasting solutions to Nigeria's many socio-economic problems.

The president said this during the presidential policy retreat attended by technocrats who proffered solutions to issues bordering on security and economy.

He, however, said that to achieve the desired national change, state governors must wake up to their responsibilities and work with the federal government.
