Buhari commends Air Force personnel who returned misplaced 37,000 Euros

- Bashir Umar, the aircraftman who returned the sum of 37,000 Euros which was misplaced to its owner, has been commended by President Buhari

- Buhari urged Nigerians, youths especially, to emulate such worthy gesture

- The president further commended the leadership of the Nigerian Air Force for its decision to reward the airman

Bashir Umar, the aircraftman who returned the sum of 37,000 Euros which was misplaced to its owner, has been commended by President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement released by his special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, the president described Umar’s honesty as “uncommon, patriotic and exemplary”.

Legit.ng notes that Buhari urged Nigerians, youths especially, to emulate such worthy gesture.

He said: “Honesty and integrity will always remain admirable virtues, notwithstanding challenges before any country.”

The president further commended the leadership of the Nigerian Air Force for its decision to “reward the airman so as to encourage other personnel of the service to continue to embody attitudes and behaviours that reflect NAF’s core values of integrity, excellence and service delivery.”

Recall that Legit.ng previously reported that the Nigerian Air Force announced preparations to honour one of its personnel, Aircraftman Bashir Umar, who found and returned the sum of 37,000 Euros to its owner in Kano.

Umar was said to have returned the foreign cash to Alhaji Ahmad, who reportedly lost the money.

A statement from Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, the spokesperson of NAF, said the incident occurred at the ‘Hajj Camp Market’ in Kano on Tuesday, July 16, 2019.
