Zlatan Ibrahimovic may be handed a heavy ban in the MLS after elbowing an opponent during LA Galaxy 3-2 win over LAFC in a heated LA derby on Friday night.
The encounter, which was branded 'El Trafico' saw the Swede net a hat-trick to reduce LAFC’s lead at the top of MLS log in the Western Conference to nine points.
However, Ibrahimovic was condemned at full-time after clashing with Libyan international Mohamed El-Monir, which left the North African requiring a surgery for injuries suffered.
According to Mirror report, video clips revealed that the former Man United forward Ibrahimovic checked at El-Monir's position, before going up in the air to deliver an elbow to the defender’s face.
Incidentally, the incident happened moments after the match official ignored calls from Ibrahimovic and his teammates, to sanction the left-back for a tackle on Galaxy midfielder Joe Corona.
The Swede legend was lambasted by LAFC bench at the end of the match, which, despite VAR presence was not spotted.
