American R&B singer, R. Kelly, has reportedly expressed fears for his safety in prison after he was refused bail.
According to reports from TMZ, the 52-year-old singer prefers to be kept in solitary confinement than with the rest of the prisoners over fears for his life.
The singer reportedly told his lawyer, Nicole Blank Becker, during a visit that he believes he would be better in solitary because his life will be in real danger with the other prisoners.
Despite Kelly’s fears, his lawyer believes that would pose a big problem seeing as the singer would need someone to help him out over his inability to read or write.
Just recently, Legit.ng reported that R. Kelly was arrested on federal sex crime charges.
According to ABC, the singer was arrested on July 12 on a 13-count indictment.
A statement from the U.S. attorney's office in Chicago reads as follows: "R Kelly was arrested in Chicago on charges contained in a 13-count indictment returned today in the northern district of Illinois. The indictment includes charges of child pornography and obstruction of justice."
