Manchester City forward Riyad Mahrez believes Algeria can go all the way to lift the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations title on Friday, July 19.

The 28-year-old fired the Desert Foxes to triumph over Nigeria in their semifinal clash at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday, July 14.

That was after William Trosst-Ekong had given the north African side the lead through an own goal in the 40th minute of the meeting.

Although, Odion Ighalo got on the scores sheet through the spot kick in the 72nd minute, his goal was however a mere consolation for the Super Eagles.

Mahrez said after Algeria defeated Nigeria: "We already had confidence I think, but this game has given us more confidence to play the final.

"It will be another tough game, but I think we are capable of winning it. We have played Senegal in the group stage, they are a group team, but we will see."

Algeria got their campaign off to a winning note in Egypt after beating Kenya 2-0, and then proceeded to beat Senegal (1-0) and Tanzania (3-0).

At the round of 16, they dumped Guinea out of the competition following their 3-0 win after regulation time.

They beat Ivory Coast 4-3 on penalties after both sides played 1-1 over 120 minutes at the quarterfinals.

The Desert Foxes will now be aiming to win their second AFCON title after winning their first in 1990.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Senegal will miss the services of their influential defender Kalidou Koulibaly in the final of their Africa Cup of Nations championship on Friday, July 19.

The Napoli star picked up another yellow in three matches during his side's 1-0 win over Tunisia, courtesy of an own goal from Dylan Bronn in the extra minutes.

Coach Aliou Cisse are now one step away from winning their first ever AFCON title as they face Algeria in the final of the competition at the Cairo International Stadium.
