Algeria vs Nigeria: Austin Okocha has stated that Nigerians are not bothered by how good or bad goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi has been with his South African club Kaizer Chiefs.
The former Super Eagles captain is impressed with Akpeyi's performance performance despite playing just six games for his Premier Soccer League club lasts season.
“We are not bothered by how well he is doing in South Africa, but we are happy that he is here because the South African league (PSL) is one of the best in Africa, if not the best," Okocha told the South African media.

Okocha is confident the Amakhosi shot-stopper is improving as the team progresses in the tournament, but admits playing for the national team is a different ball game.

“We are happy that you have provided him that good platform to improve. I think he is improving. When he comes to the national team it is a different ball game and for me, he is rightly our No.1 choice now," said Okocha.
The 32-year-old has conceded just one goal in the tournament which was in the quarter finals against South Africa and Okocha believes Akpeyi is still young and he will get better with time.
The ex-Paris Saint-Germain captain added that Akpeyi's form at club level should not be used to judge his success or failure, but his contributions to the Super Eagles.
“He is still a young man and the more games he plays, the more confident he will get. I am not judging him based on his stats here in South Africa but for what he is doing for his national team,” concluded Okocha.
