Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said the killers of Funke Olakunrin, the second daughter of Afenifere leader, Reuben Fasoranti, will face justice.
Osinbajo made the statement on Saturday, July 13, in a condolence message to the Fasoranti family over the death of Funke who was killed by unknown gunmen on Friday, July 12.
The vice-president said he had earlier spoken with Reuben Fasoranti on the sad news of the death of his daughter, adding that security agencies had been tasked with ensuring perpetrators of the crime are apprehended and brought to justice.
“I spoke earlier today with Pa. Reuben Fasoranti, on the sad news of the death of his daughter, Mrs Funke Olakunrin. I pray the Lord comforts him and the entire family. Our security agencies have been tasked with ensuring perpetrators of this crime are apprehended and brought to justice,” Osinbajo said.
Similarly, President Muhammadu Buhari has condoled with Reuben Fasoranti, the chairman of Afenifere, a Yoruba socio-cultural group, over the killing of his daughter, Funke Olakunrin, which happened on Friday, July 12
The special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, posted President Buhari's condolence message on Facebook.
In the message, the president prayed that God will comfort Pa Fasoranti, and give him the fortitude to bear the grievous loss.
Meanwhile, former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, has condemned the killing of Funke Olakunrin who is the daughter of Chief Reuben Fasoranti.
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in a series of tweets on Friday, July 12 called on security operatives to investigate the killing of the daughter of the leader of the socio-cultural Yoruba group, Afenifere. Atiku described the killing as one too many and asked security operatives to curb these killings.
