Senator Ishaku Abbo's uncle was on Saturday, July 13, killed by some unknown gunmen who also killed his step-mother, Rifikatu Ishaku, in Adamawa.
An eyewitness revealed to journalists that the attackers stormed Abbo's family house located in Muchalla ward of Mubi north local government area of the state on Saturday and while kidnapping Rifikatu, killed the senator's uncle because he raised an alarm, The Nation reports.
Claiming that the assailants came into the area purposely for Abbo's family, the unnamed source said: ”The gunmen opened fire on him (the uncle), leading to his death, and they went away with the victim unchallenged."
Sulaiman Nguroje, the police spokesman in the state, confirmed the tragedy, and disclosed that it took place before dawn of Saturday, adding that the commissioner of the force has sent an anti-kidnapping squad to track and arrest the abductors.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Abbo had been released by the police on bail. Abbo was released after his detention and the Federal Capital Territory Police command following allegation of assault on a nursing mother in an adult shop in Abuja.
Abbo was released on bail on Friday, July 5, morning after a 24-hours detention at the FCT police command.
