Nigeria and Algeria will clash for the 21st time at senior men’s level in an AFCON 2019 semi final encounter which is expected to be tough in Cairo on Sunday, July 14.

Super Eagles are looking for their fourth title since winning their first on home soil at the expense of Algeria in 1980.

Algeria on the other hand are looking for their second gong since their only title win on home soil at the expense of Nigeria in 1990.

Nigeria's Super Eagles have won eight of the previous encounters while Algeria had won seven, with five drawn.

Algeria were stopped from qualifying for the 2018 World Cup as Eagles bashed the Foxes 3-1 in Uyo and tied the second leg in Constantine 1-1 before FIFA awarded the match to Algeria after the Eagles fielded ineligible defender Abdullahi Shehu.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Super Eagles trio of Ahmed Musa, Odion Ighalo and defender Chidozie Awaziem were declared fit to face Algeria in AFCON 2019 semifinal clash on Sunday, July 14.

There have been reports that these three players may not be fit for Nigeria's next AFCON 2019 game against Algeria due to the knocks they suffered against South Africa.
