I washed dishes in the US to pay my school fees - Ondo SSG

- Honourable Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde, called on youths to be hardworking

- The former lawmaker said he also washed dishes in the US to pay his school fees

The secretary to the Ondo State government, Honourable Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde, has revealed that he used to fry akara before he eventually went to the United State.

He former member of the House of Representatives revealed that when he received a group of youths from Akure, the state capital.

Abegunde called on the youths to be focused and hardworking saying when he was in the US, he also washed dishes in order to pay his school fees.

He said: "My parents who fortunately are still alive today were peasant farmers yet they encouraged me to work hard and never give up on my dream. Hard work is not a crime like a lot of people believe today.”

Ifedayo Abegunde had been elected twice as a member of the House of Representatives before his appointment as the secretary to the state government in 2017.

Meanwhile, the deputy governor of Ondo state, Agboola Ajayi, denied claims that he was lobbying the government of President Muhammadu Buhari to be appointed managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Leke Akeredolu, Ajayi’s deputy chief press secretary, said this in a statement describing the report as baseless and lacking in merit.

The statement quoted Agboola as saying he was contented with his current position as the elected deputy governor of Ondo state.

Legit.ng earlier reported that the entire 18 caretaker committees of the local government councils in Ondo were, on Thursday, June 13, dissolved by the state’s House of Assembly thus resulting in uncertainties among politicians at the grassroots.

It was learnt that the lawmakers, who had adjourned till July 9, were summoned for the emergency sitting for the purpose of taking a decision on the tenure of local government chairmen.
