Gernot Rohr says he met his target by qualifying Nigeria into semis

- Gernot Rohr has stated that he has achieved his AFCON target with Super Eagles

- Nigeria got the better of South Africa in the quarter finals following a 2-1 win

- The four-time African champion will face Algeria in a crunch semi final clash

Gernot Rohr has stressed that he has met his minimum target following Super Eagles qualification into AFCON semi finals.

The German tactician told journalists that Nigeria's third place in the African rankings can only be maintained by progressing into the last four of AFCON 2019.

“Our target was to go get to the semi-final stage because we are number three in Africa so we have to be in this position also to be on that level. But it was so difficult because the game was very close," Rohr told journalists at the Cairo International Stadium.

Rohr expressed caution regarding the feeling of fans back home in Nigeria that the Super Eagles are now capable of winning their fourth title.

“I hope so but we must win the semi-final first before dreaming of winning the cup. It will be a tough game against Algeria.

“We had to wait until the last minute to score a second goal. We didn’t score the second goal in the first half but in the second half, we were punished. We are looking forward to the next game and are very happy about this victory.
