Rilwan Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos, on Thursday, July 11, said that he fears nobody but God and he will not fail to speak truth to power.
Akiolu said this during a meeting between traditional rulers in the state and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at Alausa, Ikeja, The Nation reports.
Stating that he is a rubber stamp to no one, the Oba revealed that former Governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu always listens to his advice; however, he added that Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, should only take his fatherly advice.
Moreover, Akiolu admonished the governor Sanwo-Olu and his deputy to run a people-oriented government that has the welfare of Lagosians in mind.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Akiolu on Monday, July 8, described former president of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, as the country’s number one challenge.
Akiolu said this at the launch of a memoir written by a former governor of Ogun state, Chief Olusegun Osoba. At the event which held in Lagos, Akiolu recalled reading Osoba’s interview in a newspaper recently.
The monarch said in the interview that the former governor said Obasanjo deceived them which was why they lost their seats in 2003.
