El-Rufai sets up cabinet, swears-in members after confirmation by state assembly

- The governor of Kaduna, Nasir El-Rufai, swears-in new commissioners after their confirmation by the state House of Assembly

- Samuel Aruwan, one of those sworn-in by El-Rufai, was a spokesperson to the governor during his first term

- Fausat Ibironke, another commissioner, will now head the housing and urban development ministry

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna, on Friday, July 12, swore-in members of the State Executive Council (SEC) after they were screened and confirmed by the legislative arm of government.

The Kaduna state government released the photographs of the swearing-in ceremony on its Twitter handle.

Among those sworn-in is Samuel Aruwan, a former aide to the governor on media, who is now in charge of internal security and home affairs.

Others are Fausat Ibironke, who now heads the housing and urban development ministry and Thomas Gyang now in charge of planning and budget.

Hassan Usman Mahmud will now head the riots damage and rehabilitation ministry.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Governor Nasir El-Rufai's commissioner-nominee for agriculture, Alhaji Aliyu Jaafaru, was rejected by the Kaduna state House of Assembly.

The governor had sent his name to the House for screening. The nominee, who appeared on Thursday, July 11, before the assembly for screening was rejected by the lawmakers due to his alleged criticism of the El-Rufai-led administration.

The speaker, Alhaji Aminu Shagali, who presided over the plenary, said the rejection was as a result of his criticism against the present government on his social media handles since 2017.
