Manchester United have reportedly placed a £75m price-tag on Belgium forward Romelu Lukaku.
According to UK Sun report, United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has been locked in talks with Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio at the club's offices in central London, as they tried to strike a deal.
New Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte believes the 26-year-old forward will be the main man for Nerazzurri as they plot to end Juventus dominance of the Italian topflight next campaign.
However, United insist they are not ready to shift ground from the £75m price-tag on the Belgium star, which they believe players’ true worth.
Presently, Lukaku is observing pre-season with the rest of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad members in Australia, but has informed the Red Devils boss he wants a switch to the San Siro this summer, stressing he was not fairly treated by the manager last season.
At the moment, Inter chiefs are struggling to meet with the transfer fee United are demanding, but are praying Woodward relax his tough stand on Lukaku’s exit in the next ten days.
Interestingly, the report further hinted that the Italians are ready to part with £65m for the striker, who joined Man United from Everton in a £75m deal 24 months ago.
A further breakdown of Inter’s payment plans to meet FFP a balance sheet is to sign Lukaku on loan leading to a permanent switch.
A deal that will see them table about £15m, with a legal backing to cough out two more payments - £15m each to take the total value to £65m.
But Man United are not interested in a loan deal, rather they want a far bigger down payment, with smaller installments to follow next.
United are expected to hand Everton £5m if Lukaku complete the move to Inter Milan under the terms of their transfer deal in 2017.
Inter are hopeful of reaching a deal with United is the coming days as talks continue. Both clubs will trade tackles in a pre-season friendly in Shanghai on July 20.

According to the report on Sky Sport Italia, Inter Milan director Piero has traveled to England on Wednesday, July 10, to have negotiation with Manchester United.
And a two-year loan deal is said to have been tabled before Old Trafford chiefs with payment to be made over three installments.
