I never said Buhari’ll submit ministerial list this week - Lawan

- Senate President Ahmad Lawan says he never said President Muhammadu Buhari will submit his ministerial list to the Senate this week

- The Senate president pointed out that what he said was that the list “could” be received this week

- Lawan urged journalists to report the issue “as it is”

The president of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has refuted media reports quoting him as saying that President Muhammadu Buhari would submit the ministerial list to the Senate this week.

Lawan made the clarification in a chat with State House correspondents on Thursday, July 11 after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, NAN reports.

Legit.ng gathers that he said: “Let me take the opportunity to correct that. A senator raised a point of order under personal explanation.

“He said we should be sent the list of the ministers by the executive arm of government and in my response I said the executive is working so hard to ensure that the list of Nigerians that will help this administration work is going to be transmitted and we could even receive it this week.

“‘We could’ is conditional and I will urge everybody here to report it as it is."

Others at the meeting included the deputy Senate president, Ovie Omo-Agege; speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila and the deputy speaker, Ahmed Idris Wase.

The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, and other presidential aides also attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari stated that he was under tremendous pressure to name ministers for his second term in office.

The president made the disclosure while chatting with State House correspondents, after dining with principal officers of the National Assembly.

Buhari added that most of the ministers from his first term were unknown to him. He said the All Progressives Congress (APC) had nominated most of them.
