Ibrahim Magu, the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC), on Thursday, July 11, said that the agency is at war with powerful forces in its crusade against corruption.
Magu stressed that despite stiff challenge from corrupt persons and gangs in the country, the agency is fixed on defeating corruption.
The EFCC's boss regrets the fact that its tough to recover stolen funds and assets deposited in foreign bank accounts, The Nation reports.
Magu said: "The forces we are against are powerful because they have a lot of stolen funds with them and enough resources to frustrate investigation and prosecution.
"But we are determined to lead the fight against corruption. To get these funds and assets back has become a problem."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Ibadan zonal office of the EFCC had arrested 30 suspected internet fraudsters in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state.
The anti-graft agency said in a statement that the suspected fraudsters were arrested on Wednesday, July 10.
Legit.ng gathered that the suspects were arrested at different locations within the city of Ado-Ekiti during an early morning raid carried out by operatives of the EFCC.
