Ecuadorian football referee Roddy Zambrano who handled the Copa America semifinal game between Brazil and Argentina has defended himself after being attacked by Lionel Messi.
Barcelona star Lionel Messi was very livid with the performance of the referee and also the use of VAR in the encounter which sent Brazil out of the championship.
Messi afterwards made some comments to attack the referee and also the authorities in charge of the Copa America claiming that they are corrupt.

Roddy Zambrano has now responded to Lionel Messi's accusation saying that the losing team would always look for who to blame for their defeat.
''I'm very calm about what happened, I was very transparent in my work, I tried to do my best.
''Fortunately everything that was said on the field and everything said in the cabin by VAR has been recorded.
''We knew it was going to be a difficult match, we knew that the losing team would look for someone to blame.
''We knew that before the match and obviously the guilty parties are going to be us (the officials),'' Zambrano told an Ecuadoran radio station SuperK-800 in response to Messi's comments.
Meanwhile, there are reports that Lionel Messi could be banned for two years because of the comment he made on the Copa America.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Brazilian star Dani Alves criticized his former teammate at Barcelona Lionel Messi for the controversial comments he made against the organizers of the 2019 Copa America.
Messi expressed his annoyance after Argentina's defeat in the semifinal against Brazil in the Copa America as the Barcelona star attacked the CONMEBOL of being corrupt.
