- Marco Asensio has emerged top transfer target for Champions League winners Liverpool
- The Reds are plotting to launch a £67m bid for the Spaniard who scored just once in 30 La Liga matches last season
- Asensio has been tipped a perfect replacement for Daniel Sturridge ahead of the coming season
Liverpool have reportedly lined up a £67 million bid for Real Madrid star Marco Asensio as they hope to add depth to their squad this summer.
The Reds emerged champions of Europe last season following their 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final on June 1.
However, they are not resting on their oars as they want to build on their success last campaign by bringing in fresh legs to help the team compete for titles in the coming football season.
SunSport however reports that the Merseyside outfit want to sign the Spaniard, who has been considered one of the future stars.
But the midfielder has failed to grab the opportunities handed to him after scoring just once all through the La Liga campaign last season.
Meanwhile, Los Blancos has slapped a sum of £67 million on the 23-year-old in case he decides to leave the Bernabeu this summer.
The midfielder has been named as perfect replacement for Daniel Sturridge who was released by the club after their Champions League triumph. He has also been targeted as a back up for Mohamed Salah.
The duo of Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi are the only experienced alternatives available for Mane, Firmino and Salah up front.
According to reports from the Los Blancos camp, Zinedine Zidane was said to be interested in allowing Asensio leave if it meant Sadio Mane heading in the opposite direction.
But the Senegalese doesn't seem likely to quit Anfield Stadium any time soon especially with the level of success he is enjoying at the club.
Real boss tried signing the winger before resigning last summer but that deal never saw the light of the day.
Mane however went ahead to win Premier League golden boot after finishing joint top scorer with Aubameyang and Salah with 22 goals.
He however was unable to help the Reds win the EPL title having ended the season with 97 points - one behind champions Manchester City.
So far this summer, the Merseyside outfit have only signed Dutch teenager Sepp van den Berg whilst Madrid have splashed almost £300m on the likes of Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale has been offered a whopping £1.2 million-a-week deal from top Chinese Super League outfit.
The Welshman, who turns 30 later this month currently earns about £600,000-a-week at the Spanish League side.
Though, the former Tottenham star has three more years on his current deal with Los Blancos, their current manager has told him to find another club this summer.
