Instagram went down as users couldn't post photos, videos

- Instagram experienced a downtime on Thursday, July 3

- The outage happened same time Facebook was experiencing same issue

- Users in the east coast of the US were the most hit

On Wednesday, July 3, Instagram stopped working during the same time, its parent company, Facebook, was down.

Independent reports that only a part of photo and video sharing site was down as users said that though their feeds could load, it was not possible to post anything new.

According to gathered users’ experience, whenever contents were posted on Instagram, an error message came up saying “Photo Can’t Be Posted”.

Though the issue with the social media platform happened mostly to users in the east coast of the United States (US), it affected other users across the world, with most reported issues from Europe, South America and East Asia.

It should be noted that the last time that Facebook had a major service blackout, all its three major services, including WhatsApp, broke down.

The biggest outage problem the tech company had was in March, which hit billions of users across the world.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that hackers gained control of WhatsApp as they installed surveillance software on phones and other devices running the app.

WhatsApp, a messaging app, owned by Facebook, said the attack was targeted at just a few of its users by a very sophisticated hacker.

A fix that was meant to counter the surveillance software was rolled out on Friday, May 10, as WhatsApp asked all its users to update their apps as a general precaution to the attack.

Legit.ng also gathered that the messaging app would take legal action against people or companies who break its rules, even if the breach happens on another platform.

In the new warning, users who go outside of the app to break the rules of WhatsApp will still face penalty as its enforcers will bring defaulters to book.
