Breaking: Gunmen invade Imo community, shoot sporadically

- There was apprehension in Obokofia, in Ohaji/Egbema local government area of Imo state as suspected gun wielding men invaded the community

- Residents said the gunmen were said to have invaded the community on Wednesday, July 3

- The shooting in the community forced residents to scamper for safety in nearby villages

Some suspected gun wielding men are said to be shooting sporadically in Obokofia, in Ohaji/Egbema local government area of Imo state.

Vanguard reports that the gunmen on Wednesday, July 3, forcing residents to scamper for saftey.

It was gathered that the gunmen started shooting sporadically in the air to scare residents of Obokofia away.

Although, having forced residents out of the community, no live was lost in the shooting by the gunmen in the area as the community members scampered for safety.

Speaking on the matter, the spokesperson for the Imo state Police command, Orlando Ikeokwu, said he has not been briefed on the matter.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari, has suspended the proposed federal government's Ruga settlement plan.

The presidency announced the suspension of the initiative on Wednesday, July 3, for a nationally acceptable approach to the frequent herdsmen-farmers clash in the country.
