Police arrest international fighter, others in Borno

- An international Boko Haram fighter has been arrested by Borno state police

- The terrorists who has reportedly participated in various foreign operations was arrested alongside three other collaborators

- Specifically, he was reported to have participated in several attacks in Cameron, Chad and Nigeria

The police in Borno state have arrested a notorious Boko Haram fighter who has participated in various foreign operations. He was arrested alongside three other collaborators.

Mohammed Aliyu, the commissioner of police in Borno state who disclosed during a press conference in Maiduguri said the terrorists were arrested in Dikwa town of the state, Daily Trust reports.

“Ali Ibrahim is a notorious Boko Haram fighter. He was arrested in Dikwa town. He has participated in several attacks in Cameron, Chad and Nigeria. We also arrested some Boko Haram collaborators, who usually buy cows from cattle rustlers,” the CP noted.

Meanwhile, the police on Wednesday, June 19, said that 60 persons had been arrested over various crimes including kidnapping, armed robbery and cattle rustling.

Force spokesman Frank Mba, who briefed newsmen in Abuja, said that the suspects were apprehended in different parts of the northcentral and northwest geopolitical zones.

According to him, the suspects were arrested by police operatives attached to the Special Tactical Squad (STS), and Intelligence Response Team (IRT).

Mba said that 11 AK47 Rifles, two pump action guns, three locally-made pistols, 12 dane guns, two revolver pistols, 10 live cartridges, 77 live ammunition and two vehicles were recovered from the suspects.

Also recovered from them were 160 rustled cattle, he added.

Mba said that the arrests, which were made between June 5 and 19, included the four suspects involved in the kidnap of the chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), and his daughter.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that bandits in Zamfara gave conditions for laying down their arms.

The bandits said extra-judicial killings of Fulani, especially in local markets, should be halted.
