Ex-governor Dankwambo may face jail term as investigators gather proofs

- Former governor Ibrahim Dankwambo has been accused of mismanaging Gombe state's resources

- The ex-governor has been summoned by the committee on recovery of government property in Gombe

- According to the committee, it would do everything within the law to recover all the state's properties from Dankwambo

The committee on recovery of government property which was set up by Governor Muhammadu Yahaya Inuwa of Gombe on Thursday, June 20, said they have proofs the immediate past governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo was involved in management of state resources.

The committee which is headed by Captain Peter Bilal (rtd), in one of its many sittings, invited Dankwambo to appear before it, which the former governor ignored, Leadership reports.

In an interview with the newspaper on Friday, June 21, the committee chairman insisted that the former governor must come before the committee to give account of his role.

Bilal said there are many documents that showed that Dankwambo went against rules and due process while at the helms of affairs in the state.

The chairman, however, added that the documents that point to the former governor’s involvement in the mismanagement are still being compiled.

According to Bilal, the governor is very corrupt and the committee would do everything to recover the state’s property from him. He said that some of the things in his possession are two armoured BMW security vehicles worth N300 million, among other properties of the state government.

The chairman also said the same property recovery move will be carried out in the local government areas of the state as all secretaries of the local areas will be meeting with the committee on Friday, June 21, to make that possible.

Bilal mentioned that Governor Inuwa is doing everything possible and working hard to develop the state and make the people get the dividends of democracy.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Dankwambo came under investigation for alleged corruption by the administration of his successor.

It was gathered that the former governor and his aides were invited for questioning by the committee.
