This was contained in the 2019 state of the world population report which identifies that Nigeria’s growth rate has been at an average of 2.6 per cent from 2010 to 2019.

The fertility rate among Nigerian women continued to drop as it fell from 6.4 in 1969 to 5.3 in 2019 which translates to an average of five children per woman.
