- The university authority, after consulting security experts, resolved to dig trenches around its main campus

- The acting vice-chancellor, Adamu Nchama, said staff and students would soon begin to access all facilities at the main campus

Security experts have hinted the management of the Federal University (FUDMA), Dutsinma, Katsina state, on the need to dig trenches around its main campus, at Sabon Gari Turare.

The university which was established in 2010 has been operating from the take-off campus in Dutsinma town.

The university has not been able to fully utilise the facilities at the main campus at Sabon Gari Turare since it commenced its operation due to the activities of bandits and kidnappers who operate from the nearby Rugu forest.

Daily Sun reports that the acting vice-chancellor, Adamu Nchama, made this known while briefing reporters on the forthcoming convocation of the school.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the management of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture through its governing council reportedly sent demotion letters to about 24 professors.

The university’s spokesperson, Adamma Nwachukwu, confirmed the development, saying it was due to petitions that some aggrieved people sent to the minister of education.

Nwachukwu, however, declined to offer other details of the action, saying “the university is not exactly interested in blowing this matter out of proportion.

"It is an internal procedure and was not targeted at demoting or promoting anybody, but rather at ensuring proper placement of all affected staff and not just professors.”
