Leader of the All Progressives Party (APC) in Zamfara state, Senator Ahmed Sani, has promised full support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led administration in the northern state.
News Agency of Nigeria reports that Ahmed Sani, the immediate past senator representing Zamfara West, made the promise on Wednesday, June 12, when he paid courtesy visit on the state governor, Bello Matawalle at the Government House in the state capital, Gusau.
“No doubt, your emergence as the fifth governor of Zamfara state is the will of Allah and anyone who tries to challenge this position has no faith in the will of Allah who gives or takes power at His choice.
“I am here today to congratulate and wish you luck in the new administration of the state and to assure of my support for your success.
“Your Excellency, l want to assure you that all my supporters will support you and l will continue to draw the attention of the people of the state to give their maximum support to you and the administration especially with genuine advice that will promote the development of the state,” Senator Sani said.
Sani also pledged to assist the PDP-led government of the state in the fight against crime and in other areas.
Responding, Governor Matawalle thanked the senator for his support, and pledged that his administration would continue to carry all well-meaning citizens along in the efforts to develop the state.
“l will strongly rely on elders like you in order to assemble leaders of thought from the state every month with whom we can jointly set good directions to the state,” the governor noted.
Governor Matawalle served as commissioner of environment under Senator Sani about 20 years ago.
In a similar vein, Legit.ng reported earlier that in a collective move towards ending the growing rate of banditry and kidnapping in troubled Zamfara state, Governor Matawalle met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja.
A statement by Governor Matawalle's spokesperson, Yusuf Idris, further said that the meeting was to brief President Buhari on the control measures taken so far by the new administration.
The banditry crisis and illegal mining rocking the state heightened during the administration of Matawalle's predecessor Abdulazizi Yari.
