Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila's emergence as speaker of the ninth House of Representatives on Tuesday, June 11, has attracted diverse reactions among Nigerians, particularly on social media.
Gbajabiamila was elected by members of the House of Representatives to pilot the affairs of the House for the next four years. He scored 283 votes to defeat his rival Umaru Bago also of the APC who scored 76.
Legit.ng gathers that the new speaker, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress, is representing Surulere 1 federal constituency in the National Assembly.
While many Nigerians congratulated the lawmaker for his victory, others in their reactions reminded the ruling APC that it will have no excuse again as its preferred candidates have been elected leaders of the National Assembly.

Meanwhile, the Ondo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the emergence of Senator Ahmed Lawan and Gbajabiamila as the president and speaker of the 9th National Assembly as a good omen for a new phase of democracy and development in Nigeria.
