Cristiano Ronaldo is not ready to think about the prestigious Ballon d'Or after Portugal's Selecao emerged inaugural winners of the UEFA Nations League.

The Juventus forward was in thick of the action as Portugal pipped Holland 1-0 won, with Ronaldo lifting the trophy at the expense of Liverpool’s centre-back Virgil van Dijk on Sunday, June 9.

Ronaldo netted three times in Portugal’s semi-final win over Switzerland, but failed to replicate the same form against the Holland in the final.

But the Dutchman is leading the race to claim the Ballon d'Or after a successful season with Liverpool lifting the Champions League.

Barcelona star Lionel Messi is reportedly second-favourite after sharing the honour of winning the award for 10 years with Ronaldo before Luka Modric's arrival last year.

The Portuguese superstar was asked if he was on course for a sixth Ballon d'Or after Portugal's success in the UEFA Nations League.

“The goal for the match was to win and to play well," Ronaldo responded, even as another reporter wanted him to speak more about the prestigious award after the win over Holland.

"No, I will not speak about the Ballon d’Or,” he insisted.

Despite his heroics in the semi-final, Ronaldo was not able to win the Player of the Tournament award for the Nations League.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Man City attacker Bernando Silva was crowned UEFA Nations League player of the tournament.

The 24-year-old helped the European champions clinch the maiden edition of the championship after beating Netherlands in the final.

Goncalo Guedes scored the only goal that handed his side the victory after normal regulation period. However, Cristiano Ronaldo seems to be the only person who looked unhappy about his teammate winning the award as he was spotted far away from the star.
