Dancer Kaffy reveals motherhood helped her overcome depression

Popular Nigerian dancer Kafayat Shafau-Ameh popularly known by many as Kaffy, recently revealed some new information about herself, particularly about how she coped with depression.

The dancing star recently had an interview with Tony Ogaga of The Sun and the celebrity star had a lot to say about her humble beginnings as well as how far she has come in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Kaffy while fielding a question about projections she made about her dancing career disclosed that she never imagined it would be this big, but she always knew her break would definitely come.

Speaking on how being a mother has transformed her life, the energetic dancer made the big revelation that motherhood actually helped her overcome depression.

Shedding more light on her position, Kaffy explained that the special bond which is shared between a mother and her child, is always suffice to make her know that regardless of what she may be going through, she would always have her child’s love.

She said: "Greatly. Motherhood helped me overcome depression. There are times when you are frustrated by everything around you and you feel the entire world is going to crash on your head. You just feel down but then you need to do stuff because you are a mum.

"You see, there is this genuine love that radiates from your child to you, and regardless of what is going on in the world, you know that this child loves you and the love is always fresh. And so I learnt to lock into that love and use it as a springboard to forge ahead, and then I begin to see that God loves me so much he decided to bless me with the child."

On how she has been able to keep her marriage together despite having her husband in the same industry, the dancer revealed that they have always understood each other from the very beginning and they still keep learning.

"For those that it doesn’t work for, I don’t know what their problem is. However, if you and your spouse are in the same industry, many factors can make it competitive and unhealthy. But it is also a good platform for you guys to understand each other. I always say it, my husband and I understood each other from the very beginning, but we grew and are still learning; this is just the seventh year." Kaffy said.

Meanwhile, in a related Kaffy story, Legit.ng gathered that the dancer first made the public revelation of her depressed state while reacting to a post by Instagram comedian, Oyemmyke. The comedian had shared a post in which he charged people not to be pressurized on social media and his messages resonated with the dancer.
