A female pilot, Simisola Ajibola, has been hailed by Super Eagles squad members after she safely landed the team in Egypt for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2019.
According to the team’s media officer, Oluwatoyin Ibitoye, the team members were thrilled with the expertise Ajibola, handled the flight to Egypt on Sunday, June 9, ahead of their final camping in Ismalia and took to social media to applaud her excellent show.
Interestingly, Ajibola is the first woman captain to be decorated by Air Peace Airlines and she comes from a family of pilots - father and four brothers, three of whom are with Air Peace.
She joined the airline in February 2017 as a Senior First Officer (SFO), but just after a year and few months, Ajibola was decorated with her captain epaulettes at the airline’s corporate headquarters in Lagos.
Air Peace at the last count has eight women pilots in its employ.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that AFCON 2019 is days away and ahead of the tournament, Nigeria’s Super Eagles have settled down in Ismailia, Egypt to kick-off of final leg of preparations for 32nd Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2019.
According to Super Eagles official Twitter handle, the three-time African champions landed the North African nation on Monday, June 10, in high spirit, with 11 days to the commencement of hostilities at the biennial championship.
Before jetting off on Sunday, June 9, Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr dropped the pair of Kelechi Iheanacho and Seyi Ajayi from the final 23-man squad.
